One of my last works in theatre is performance-concert “Cabaret on Italyanskaya” “100 years ago in the building of present theatre of Musical comedy on Italyanskaya street was opened very uncommon place. It was called as “Palace-Theatre”. In this palace building surprisingly got on with each other various musical genres: very popular at that time operetta, just appearing genre of jazz, pop review and Cabaret.

St.-Petersburg audience calls this concert as holiday of soul. This concert is of special importance for me, I performed in its program “Remembrance” (music by A. Babadzhanyan, lyrics by Yu. Rozhdestvensky), because passing away of Mikhail Aptekman for me, as for lot of other musicians is a big loss. He was a true musician, friend and teacher. I know that Misha loved works by composer Babadzhanyan, and my choice was made unquestioningly, in the memory of great maestro.”

New song (lyrics by V. Sergeeva, music by E. Kazarnovsky) will be performed by Victoria Pankratova: “The Garden in May”. “To speak on my own I should say that I liked performing of a lyric song, and not a romance as a matter of fact, because it transfers spring mood which authors succeeded to put into this song, and it fits as well as possible to this concert organized in Spring.”

St.-Petersburg competition “Spring of romance” which celebrates its tenth anniversary contributes to the popularization of one of the publicly loved music genres. Laureates of different editions will meet today during the Gala-Concert of this holiday in Big Concert Hall Oktyabrsky. Laureate of International competition, soloist of Musical Comedy Theatre Victoria Pankratova will perform old Russian romance “Dark Cherry Shawl” to the accompaniment of two famous orchestras: State Russian Folk Instruments Orchestra under direction of Popov and State orchestra under the direction of S. Gorkovenko.
